Triad of Violence : ウィキペディア英語版 | Triad of Violence The triad of violence is a sociological theory that originates from political scientist Michael Kaufman and elaborated on by sociologist Michael Messner.〔Taking the Field: Women, Men, and Sports, University of Minnesota Press, 2002, ISBN 978-0-8166-3449-1〕 The triad of violence consists of violence against women, violence against other men, and violence against themselves. ==Violence Against Women==
This refers to instances of rape conducted by male athletes. Messner emphasizes that the majority of male athletes do not participate in violence against women. An example of this would be the 2006 Duke University lacrosse team scandal.〔(ABC News: Duke Lacrosse Scandal Sheds New Light on the Stripper Industry: A Campus Trend? )〕 Messner argues that situations like this is expression of masculine through sexual aggression but, all allegations have been dropped on the athletes.
